Paul McGowan

Paul is the Senior Partner of EMC Solicitors. He qualified as a Solicitor in the late 1980s and brings to EMC his enormous experience of Employment Tribunal and Court work. Paul conducted his first Employment Tribunal over 20 years ago.

Paul provides realistic, down-to-earth advice on all aspects of the Employment Tribunal process as well as the many other difficult legal issues which may arise in the workplace.

At EMC Solicitors, together with Veronica McWilliam, Agnes Maxwell-Ferguson and Sylvia Jakob, Paul is proud to form part of a robust, incisive Employment Law team, always ready to go the extra mile in guiding our clients safely and sensibly through the tough challenges which may lie ahead.

Veronica McWilliam

Veronica occupies a vital role in the firm. She is normally your first point of contact with EMC Solicitors, being our Office Manager, Chief Administrator and the person most likely to answer your call. Veronica has been based in our premises since 2004. She has vast experience in her field and is very much a 'people person'.

If you are nervous or worried about contacting a lawyer, perhaps because you have never done so before, Veronica will always help put you at your ease.

Agnes Maxwell-Ferguson

Agnes is on her way to completing her training as a fully qualified Solicitor. Agnes came to studying the law after a fascinating career which embraced a host of jobs in the retail industry. Her wealth of experience means Agnes has the advantage of knowing the workplace intimately, from the points of view of both management and worker.

Agnes is extremely hard working and dedicated, with a desire to succeed that often accompanies the decision to practise law after moving from another discipline; but she also has an upbeat and positive nature which is infectious to clients and colleagues alike.

Sylvia Jakob

Sylvia is the most recent arrival at EMC Solicitors, and an outstanding addition to our staff. Sylvia is German and hails from a highly academic background.

Not only does Sylvia already have a number of University degrees to her name, but she is now on her way to completing her Masters Degree in Innovation Technology in Law, and achieving her final qualifications to practise law in Scotland. She is multi-lingual, speaking fluent English, Spanish and - of course - German.

Sylvia has a warm and engaging personality, in addition to her brilliant mind, and EMC has been delighted to welcome her to our team.
